#Enterpriser Highlight: Wendy Forsythe – Friendly * Smart * Focused

Okay, here we go… The second “ENTERPRISER” post is here!

#Enterpriser is a new blog series created to highlight the fun, quirky, REAL stories of:
“Captains of Industry” who are inspiring, navigating, and embracing change in their world!

Today, it is my pleasure to introduce you to the fabulous Wendy Forsythe.

I “met” Wendy on Twitter several years ago and in person a few years ago at an Inman News event.  We have stayed connected on social media and recently were able to work together for the first time I spoke at a couple of her Carrington #fuelREevents in Texas.  Her passion, drive, and focused desire to elevate the real estate industry are all inspiring.  So, here we go… here is a peek into “The Story of BrandWendy”:

WendyForsythe-Headshot-Enterpriser

1. What is your personal motto/mantra/mission statement?
WF: I must be willing to do the things today that other people won’t do in order to have the opportunities tomorrow that other people won’t have.

2. What are three words that you and others use to describe YOU?
WF: Friendly, smart, focused

3. Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
WF: Cool! Really? We need to connect the dots. Let’s keep it simple. No way! You couldn’t make this stuff up!

4. What was your favorite job… and what did you learn from it?
WF: My favorite job was coaching gymnastics as a teenager. I was a competitive gymnast and loved working with the kids as their coach. I learned so much from coaching that has helped me as a business person and just generally an “adult”!

5. What is your most treasured possession? Why?
WF: My two dogs! I love them to death. Jake, is a Jack Russell and I’ve had him since he was a puppy. He’s 7 years old now and is my best friend. We’ve had so many adventures together. My newest treasure is Charlie who is a rescue from the streets of downtown LA. He came is me originally as a foster dog but I fell in love with him and adopted him. I knew he was special and wanted to give him a wonderful forever home!

6. Who are 5 of the people on your “Dream Dinner Party” invitation list?
WF: Oprah, Kid Rock, Hilary Clinton, Jillian Michaels and Sheryl Sandberg. I like strong women and bad boys!!

wendy-lol-pup-pic7. What was the last thing that made you laugh out loud?
WF: Last night I walked into my bedroom and Charlie was sitting on the night stand like a little dog statue. When I asked him what he was doing he just titled his little head and looked at me like I was the one doing something unexpected. I totally laughed out loud!

8. Why have you embraced social media? (If you have advice for other leaders who are still not participating, please include it.)
WF: I believe in the old business adage the people need to know, like and trust you. The line between personal and professional doesn’t exist anymore. We are both personal and professional in all our interactions. Social media allows us to manage those parts of our personalities very effectively. No longer do we have to try and turn one element of our live off and another on. It’s not like now I’m working so I’m professional and now I’m out to dinner so I’m not professional. Your personal brand (your life) is a 24/7 experience. People that leverage social media to share that in appropriate ways are really leading the way into the future.

9. What is your favorite blog or business book that you recommend to everyone who asks? Why?
WF: I’m a Malcolm Gladwell fan and recommend Blink to people often. I think it highlights some great examples of thinking outside of the box and not doing things a certain way just because that’s the way they’ve been done. I also like the underlining theme that life takes hard work.

10. Who are your favorites to follow on social media?
WF: @forbes, @harvardbiz, @biggerpockets, @gitomer, @marketwatch

11. What is your GO TO song to get you in your CRUSH IT groove?
WF: Anything that Pink sings! I love her music.
